Clarence Holmes Dies Suddenly

A well known and highly respected Winchester farmer, Clarence Holmes, died suddenly on January 9th. He was in his 83rd year. Mr. and Mrs. Holmes had celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on December 23rd and had spent an enjoyable day with their family.

A son of the late Thomas E, Holmes and his wife Adelia Howes, he is survived by his wife, the former Hannah May Merkley, also surviving are four daughters Mrs. Lorne Bell (Lula), Mrs. Eric Rawson (Mary), Mrs. Keith Fawcett (Marguerite), Mrs. Ron Timmins (Murla), and six sons, Thomas, Gerald, Lloyd, Woodrow, Keith and Murray. Also one brother Hobart, forty-six grandchildren and thirteen grandchildren.

Always a devoted member of Wesleyan Methodist Church, he
had endeared himself to all district residents and his sudden
passing will be a great loss to the community.

Funeral services at Wesleyan Methodist Church were conducted
by Rev: W, R. Schamehorn and Rev. R. Leroy on Saturday, January 11th, at 2:00 p .m. Pallbearers were six grandsons: Gordon Bell, Lyall Holmes, Bob Rawson, Eldon Hplmes, Bryan
Holmes and George Holmes.

Interment was at Maple Ridge Cemetery. ⁷
