At Cornwall General Hospital, Wednesday, October 28, 1939, Albert D. Clingen, aged 79 years, beloved husband of Florence Blackwood, father of Otto Clingen, Ottawa; Mrs. HArry Hayes (Berta), of Lakeview Terrace, Quebec, and Lloyd Clingen, Martintown. Resting at his home, Apple Hill. Funeral service Friday, October 30, at 2 p.m. Interment North Branch cemetery, Martintown. 5

Albert D. Clingen
Apple Hill, Dies
A widely known resident of Apple Hill, Albert D. Clingen died
at Comwfall General Hospital, October 28.th. He was in his 80th
year.
Mr. Clingen was born at Martintown, a son of the late Mr. and
Mrs. Miatthew Clingen. He owned and operated a plaining mill there until it was destroyed by fire. He then rebuilt at Apple Hill where he had since been active in the affairs of the community conducting a funeral director's service in addition to his mill.

His first wife, Effie Otto, died in 1947 and he later married Florence Blackwood, of Martintown, who survives. Two sons and one daughter also mourn his passing: Otto Clingen, of Ottawa; Lloyd Clingen, Martintown, and Mrs. Harold Hayes (Verla) of Deschenes, Que.

Many relatives and friends attended the funeral held Friday,
October 30th, from his late home to North Branch cemetery. Rev. J. J. E. Brownlee conducted the service assisted by Rev. Robertson Millar of Marttntown. The pallbearers were: E. W.
Munro, D. S. McLennan, Jos. Lefebvre, Jeffe^ McMartin, Hugh
Munro and Hugh McIntyre. Among relatives present from a
distance. In addition to his immediate family, were Orval Otto,
of Detroit; W. T. Atkinson and James Hayes, Ottawa.

A wealth of floral trbutes and messages evidenced the regret in
his death. 8


Albert married Effie Thursey OTTO, daughter of Norman Elijah OTTO and Martha Mariah SCHWERDFEGER, on 25 Dec 1909 in Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario, Canada.1 (Effie Thursey OTTO was born on 20 Jun 1878 in Russell, Russell County, Ontario, Canada,1 9 10 11 died on 22 Sep 1947 in Apple Hill, Glengarry, Ontario, Canada 12 and was buried on 25 Sep 1947 in Martintown, Glengarry, Ontario, Canada 12.). The cause of her death was pulmonary embolism.


Albert next married Florence BLACKWOOD, daughter of John BLACKWOOD and Anne STEELE, in 1948.2 (Florence BLACKWOOD was born on 10 Oct 1879 in Franklin Centre, Huntington, Québec, Canada,13 died on 10 Apr 1966 in Martintown, Glengarry, Ontario, Canada 13 and was buried in Apr 1966 in Martintown, Glengarry, Ontario, Canada 13.)
