• Her obituary was published in 1910. It read as follows:

death took place in Chater on Sunday morning of Mrs. Mary Johnston, relict of the late John Johnston of Carman. Deceased had been visiting her nephew, H W Johnston of Chater since April last. She was in her 69th year. The funeral was held at the residence of her nephew on Sunday afternoon, when the remains were brought into the city to be shipped to Carman for interment. 4
