She was 19 when the family moved to Manitoba. She had moved to Detroit and worked there for a time. She joined the family in Hamiota, Manitoba in 1891. She didn't like farm life and moved to Brandon, Manitoba. She was married to Albert Edward "Ab" Hardaker. He was residing in Hartney, Manitoba at the time of his marriage. They lived in Brandon, Manitoba in a large three-story house. She took in boarders. He was a blacksmith.

Lizzie and Ab Hardaker were good friends of my parents. My mother ate her first meal with them, after arriving in Manitoba as a bride in 1912. 1
