Mrs. W.H. Jordan Passes Suddenly.
Last week the sad news was received of the death of Mrs. W. H. Jordan at Noranda, Quebec, on Friday, June 18th 1948. It came as a terrible shock to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. G.H. Ruttan, and to this community.
Mrs. Jordan, formerly Roberta Ruttan, was married to Wilford Jordan at Noranda June 1938. Prior to her marriage, she attended Brandon College, where she received her A.T.C.M. in piano. She was a faithful member of Hamiota United Church choir, and later, at Noranda, took a very active part in women's organizations. She organized the W.M.S. in Noranda.
The funeral service was held yesterday, June 22nd, in Hamiota United Church and was conducted by Rev. H.J.H. Oldfield. The choir led in the singing of "Lead Kindly Light" and "Unto the Hills". Mr. W.W. Kirk sang "Sometime We'll Understand". The pallbearers were: Wm. Andrew, Max McConnell, Harvey McConnell, E.P. Venables, James Jamieson and Neb. Curll.
Besiders her husband, and her parents, she is survived by two children, Ann age 7, Maureen age 2; two brothers, Douglas Ruttan, geologist at Red Lake, and C.G. Ruttan, D.S.O., instructor at R.C.A.F. Staff College, Toronto, Ont. Her youngest brother, Hugh, died September 1940. 4

• Her obituary was published in the Rouyn-Noranda Express in 1948. It read as follows:

Just about a week after the celebration of her tenth wedding anniversary, Mrs. Wilford (Roberta) Jordan, Chadburn avenue, townsite, passed away suddenly in Youville Hospital on Friday morning last. Mrs. Jordan had been operated on the previous Monday. The remains were sent on the Saturday afternoon train to her former home town of Hamiota, Manitoba, where the funeral was held Tuesday morning. Mr. Jordan accompanied the body. She is survived by her husband, two young daughters, her parents and two brothers.
Mrs. Jordan came to Noranda a little more than ten years ago from Hamiota to marry Wilford Jordan, employed at Noranda Mines. She was prominent in the Women's Missionary Society of the Noranda-Rouyn United Church in which she took an active part. A short service was held at the church Saturday noon prior to the departure of the train.
Her two children Ann, aged seven and Maureen aged two stayed with friends of the family after their father had left with the remains of Mrs. Jordan. She is survived, in addition, by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ruttan, of Hamiota, a brother Douglas, geologist in the Red Lake district and another brother, Wing Commander Charles with the permanent R.C.A.F. force. Another brother predeceased her some years ago.
Her passing was a great shock to the many friends the late Mrs. Jordan had made with her kindly ways and great interest in her church and her neighbours. 4
