Mrs. J. L. Dussiaume

Resident of Ottawa for 32 years, Mrs. J. L. Dussiaume died Tuesday at her home, 65 Overton street, Eastview. Funeral will be held at the residence at 7:30 a.m., Friday, with requiem high mass at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church at 8:00 a.m. Burial will be in Notre Dame cemetery.

Born in 1869 at Ripon, Que., daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Francois Larouche, she came to Ottawa in 1908. She was a member of the Ladies of Ste. Anne.

Her husband predeceased her in 1930.

Surviving are: two sons, Eli and Moses; four daughters, Mrs. Adelard Charbonneau, Mrs. Raoul Robert, Mrs. Elzear Spennerd and Miss Palmelia Dussiaume, all of Eastview; two sisters, Mrs. Damase Gascon, of Warren, Ont., and two brothers, Francois Larouche of Ripon, Que., and Alfred Larouche of Wrightville, Que. 14

MRS. ELIE DUSSIAUME
A resident of Ottawa for the last 32 years, Julie Larouche, widow of Elie Dussiaume, died at her home, 65 Overton street, Eastview, yesterday. She was in her 71st year.

Born at Ripon, Quebec, she spent the earlier part of her life there, coming to Eastview in 1908. Her husband predeceased her ten years ago.

Surviving are two sons, Moses and Elie, both of Eastview; four daughters, Mrs. Adelard Charbonneau, Mrs. Raoul Robert, Mrs. Elzear Spenard and Miss Palmelia Dussiaume, all of Eastview; two sisters, Mrs. Damase Chaloux of Timmins, and Mrs. Damase Gascon of Warren, Ont., and two brothers, Francois of Ripon, and Alfred of Wrightville, Que.

The funeral will be on Friday from her late residence at 7:30 a.m. to Notre Dame de Lourdes church for requiem high mass at eight o'clock. Interment will be in Notre Dame cemetery. 4

Many relatives and friends paid final tribute to the memory of Mrs. J. L. Dussiaume at her funeral held this morning from her residence, 65 Overton street, Eastview, to Notre Dame de Lourdes Church. Rev. A. Chaloux said the mass assisted by Rev. E. Ducharme, S.M.M., as deacon and Rev. C. Dufresne, S.M.M., as subdeacon. Father Dufresne said the prayers at the graveside, Interment was in Notre Dame cemetery.

Chief mourners and survivors were two sons, Eli and Moses; four daughters, Mrs. Adelard Charbonneau, Mrs. Raoul Robert, Mrs. Elzear Spennerd and Miss P. Dussiaume, all of Eastview; two sisters, Mrs. Mamase Chaloux, of Timmins, Ont., and Mrs. Damase Gascon, of Warren, Ont., and two brothers, Francois Larouche, of Ripon, Que., and Alfred Larouche, of Wrightville, Que.

Among the many spiritual and floral offerings was one from J. Freedman and Son, Limited. 15

  Marriage Notes:

In 1888, Clarkstown was mainly francophone and Janeville (originally Cumming's Bridge) was slightly more anglophone. In 1909, Clarkstown, Janeville and Clandeboyne (satellite of New Edinburgh - mainly anglophone) joined to become the village of Eastview. In 1969 it was renamed Vanier. In January 2001, Vanier was amalgamated into Ottawa.
