A resident of the Wikwemikong Nursing Home, died at the Manitoulin Health Centre, Little Current, on Friday, March 27, 1998 at the age of 86 years. He was born April 11, 1911 in Rydal Bank, son of the late Roy and Catherine (MacKinnon) Alkenbrack. Wesley had worked for McIsaac Mining in his early years, then at INCO for 27 years before his retirement. He married the former Doris Caroline Duncalfe in Kenogami, Quebec on March 9, 1942. They lived most of their lives in Waters Township, moving to Sudbury in the mid 90s, then to Finlandia Seniors Residence before moving to the Wikwemikong Nursing Home. Wesley had a number of pastimes and hobbies, including hunting, fishing gardening and fixing old cars, but he derived a great deal of pleasure in prospecting. His family and friends will miss him greatly, but will have many fond memories. His dearly beloved wife Doris predeceased September 24, 1997. Loving father of Douglas and his wife Sharon Alkenbrack of Kagawong and Carol and her husband David Lang of Sudbury. Proud grandfather of Kendal Maki and his wife Margaret; Marcia Ranger; Heather Lang and Lianne Lang and great granddaughter Alanna Ranger. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Donna and Art Rooney of Stouffville and Katie and Fred Unsworth of Sault Ste. Marie. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers and sisters Hector, Martha, Louise, Earl, Ron and Royce. Friends called at the Waters Mennonite Church in Lively on Monday, March 30, and Tuesday, March 31, 1998. The funeral service was conducted at the church on Tuesday, March 31, 1998 with Pastor Anna-Lisa Salo officiating. Interment in Waters Cemetery. If so desired, donations to the Wikwemikong Nursing Home or the charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements made by Culgin Funeral Home. 2
