On Sunday, March 11, 2018, Jim went peacefully from this life to life eternal while a patient at the Brockville General Hospital. He was in his 92nd year.

Beloved husband of 73 years of Violet (Owens) Chamberlain, who survives. Dear father of Darrell (Debby), Roger (Shirley), Penny Davis (Gord) and Holly. Loving grandfather of Eric Chamberlain, Andrea Hunt, Brooke Simpson, Erin Broeders, Owen Chamberlain, Timothy Davis, Tyler Davis, Kristin Hoffort and Bonnie Amy. Also survived by 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jim was predeceased by his parents, William and Annie Chamberlain, his in-laws, Henry and Eliza Owens, his siblings Eula McFarlane and her husband Roy, Blair Chamberlain, Lorna Marks and her husband Eldon, sisters-in-law Connie Baker and her husband Roy and Betty Mc Fadden and her husband Ken, his nephews, Dale Mc Farlane, Ted Brooks and his niece, Kathy Malcolm.

Jim was born in Carman, Manitoba and enlisted in the Armed Forces in 1941. While stationed at CFB Kingston, he met Violet Owens and they were married on December 27, 1944. After the war, Jim was a salesman for Canada Bread and in 1953 the family moved to Gananoque, where Jim was employed by Cunningham's Bakery as a Supervisor. In 1973, Jim went to work for Burnbrae Farms in Lyn and remained there, even after his "official retirement" in various roles until March of 2017.

Always involved in community service, Jim began his extensive work as a volunteer very early on. He was a Scout Leader and he umpired minor baseball for over 40 years. He was a founding member of the Elizabethtown Recreation Committee and was a part of many projects undertaken to increase access to sports and recreation in the township. He served on the United Way of Leeds and Grenville committee and the Lyn Library board. He has been named Person of the Year in Lyn and was inducted into the Brockville and Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.

A person of strong faith, Jim taught Sunday School for many years, was the Sunday School Superintendent of his church as well as serving on the Church Board.

His lifelong affiliation with the Progressive Conservative Party, and his tireless efforts on behalf of local candidates throughout the years, earned him a lifetime membership with the Party. Jim loved Canada and was a true patriot.

He is now a citizen of a different and eternal Kingdom, having finished his course with faithfulness.
