LEONORA BOLTON Born May 31, 1916, Caroline Leonora Rose Bolton was the eldest daughter of Robert (Harry) and Rose Bolton of Neelin, Manitoba. Early in life, Leonora was nicknamed Nonie and was known to friends and family by that name until she passed away suddenly October 4, 2009 at the age of 93. After achieving her Grade 12 in Neelin, she trained as a nurse at the Freemason's Hospital in Morden. She then went on and became a Nursing Sister for the Canadian Army in Canada until the end of the Second World War. She obtained a Public Health Nursing degree at McGill University and then returned to Winnipeg to work for the City of Winnipeg Public Health Dept. until her retirement. Nonie was always interested in history and civic affairs, and was proud of her Irish and English heritage. She enjoyed travelling very much and her trips took her to places all over the world. She loved caring for her pets, and taking care of the garden at the home she knew for 60 years. She was a member of the St. James Anglican Church and supported many charitable causes. Nonie loved her family, and was always interested in what they were doing. She was always there to lend a helping hand whenever she could. Predeceased by her parents, her brothers Robert Barnie (Esther) Bolton and William (Lottie) Bolton and survived by her sister Ida (Frank) Newton. She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews and their families. A private family service and cremation will take place Friday, October 9, 2009, officiated by Canon M. Still. Interment will be in Neelin Cemetery, Neelin, Manitoba. The family wish to extend their thanks to all the Home Care workers for their dedicated support and kindness, and a special Thank You to Kathy. Flowers gratefully declined. If you so wish a donation to a charity of your choice may be made. Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me!
