His obituary was published. It read as follows:

Charles Edward Grandfield, 86, of Thunder Bay, went on to be with the Lord on May 13, 2015. Charles was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan on December 29, 1928 to the late Henry and Charlott Grandfield.

After graduating from Nipawin High School, Charles continued his higher education at Greenville College, University of Toronto and University of Minnesota receiving a A.B. B.A. M.E.D in education. In 1954 he met and married his loving wife Donna Whittaker.

Charles was employed as a high school teacher by the Lakehead Board for 25 years and 7 before that at Lorne Park College before retiring in 1986 and remained active with the Gideons International organization and within his local church.

He enjoyed oil painting, curling and gardening in his spare time and was always handy such as building a camp on Hicks Lake, a house for his Parents and willing to help with other projects especially building. In his later years he wrote his memoirs and researched family genealogy.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Charlott, brothers George and Frank Grandfield, and sister Grace Ziehl.

He is survived by his wife Donna Grandfield; his three children Doug Grandfield; Farley Grandfield; Jo'lyn Field of Thunder Bay and 4 grandchildren; Matt Inman; Laura Grandfield; Jenni Grandfield; Elissa Field and by his brother Jim and wife Grace Grandfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Gideons International in Canada or charity of their choice.

Memorial service to be held at the O'Connor Free Methodist Church on May the 19th 2015 at 1pm.

Visitation may begin an hour before service.



Charles married Donna WHITTAKER, daughter of Spurgeon D'Eyncourt WHITTAKER and Mabel Sarah Christina EARL.
