His obituary was published in The Northern Advance on 29 Aug 1929. It read as follows:

Following a brief illness, Milton Carr, a resident of Barrie for several years, died in the Toronto General Hospital on Monday. Deceased was a picturesque and well known figure throughout most of Canada. Born in Oxford County 71 years ago, he went to the Parry Sound district as a young man and followed any trade that presented itself, lumbering, merchandising and politics. He was elected as Liberal member for Parry Sound when the Ross Government was in power. Later he moved to Cobalt and opened the first store in the district. He became interested in mining and had considerable holdings in several of the large mines. In 1922 he moved his family to Barrie, where they resided till the death of Mrs. Carr in 1925. Since then Mr. Carr has been travelling from place to place. A year ago he made a trip 600 miles up the Peace River. Last winter he spent in Oklahoma, returning to his summer home at Powassan a few months ago. He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Porter of Timmins, Mrs. W. Sullivan, Mrs. W. Asseltine and Mrs. Chinooth of Watford, and two sons, Charles and Russell, of Detroit. Interment took place at Barrie Union Cemetery on Tuesday. 9
