His obituary was published in 1930. It read as follows:

Born at Toronto, Ontario on 5 December 1878, son of Bartholomew Mahon Armstrong and Emily Louise Armstrong, he was educated at Upper Canada College and the University of Toronto, graduating from the latter in 1899. He moved to Ottawa where he was involved with the North West Mounted Police department there. In 1901 he left the service to enter the insurance business in New York state. Two years later he took up employment with the Canadian Northern Railway at Winnipeg, leaving to work for the Canadian Fire Insurance Company (1905), the Liverpool, London and Globe Insurance Company (1906-1907), and the General Fire Assurance Corporation of Scotland (1908-1911). He joined the financial, real estate and insurance firm of Robinson & Black in 1911 and, four years later, became a partner in the firm of Black & Armstrong.

He was a member of the St. Charles Country Club, Pine Ridge Golf Club, Winnipeg Jockey Club, Winnipeg Rowing Club, Manitoba Kennel Club, and the Manitoba Track and Field Association.

He died suddenly at his Winnipeg residence on Kingsway Avenue on 9 December 1930. 2
