• His obituary was published in the Ottawa Journal on 8 Sep 1923. It read as follows:

Robert Brownlee, aged 44, mechanic employed by Producers' Dairy, died at 5:45 o'clock last evening in St. Luke's Hospital from effects of injuries received when struck and knocked down on Kent street, near Cooper street, by an automobile driven by Michael Johnson, Carlsbad Springs, Ont., at 3:30 p.m. August 31.

Coroner Craig will conduct a preliminary inquest today at Brady-Harris Undertaking Parlors. The funeral arrangements have not yet been completed. Mr. Brownlee is survived by four children. His wife predeceased him by a few years. He resided at 242 Bay street.

The police report of the accident states that at 3:30 p.m., August 31, Mr. Brownlee, while carrying a tin of ice cream across Kent street, near Cooper street, was struck by the right rear mudguard of an automobile driven by Michael Johnson, of Carlsbad Springs. Mr. Brownlee was knocked down and taken to St. Luke's Hospital suffering from a concussion of the brain. His condition was not regarded as serious until Thursday. 13
