• Her obituary was published in the Ottawa Journal on 8 Dec 1975. It read as follows:

Suddenly at home on Saturday, Dec. 6, 1975, Phoebe Abson, in her 79th year, beloved wife of the late Arthur Carkner; dear mother of Dorothy (Mrs. James Roger), of Niagara Falls; Joyce (Mrs. Arch King), Merville and Wes, all of Ottawa; predeceased by her son Gordon; and sister of Gordon; survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Resting at the Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond Road at Roosevelt. Service in the chapel, Tuesday at 11 a.m. Interment Beechwood cemetery. 2
