VAN ALLEN, Garry Elizabeth (nee BURDITT) In her 84th year on January 25, 2009 in Calgary, Alberta. Garry was laid to rest on May 31st, 2009 in a private family service at Oakland Cemetery, Brockville, Ontario. Dear Mother of Karen Robinson of Calgary, Valerie Argue (Donald) and Heidi Van Allen (Don De Groot) of Brockville, Roger Van Allen (Margaret Fancy) of Mallorytown. Grandmother to Heidi Thomson (nee Robinson) and Tim Robinson of Calgary, Joel Robinson of Kingston, Kristen Argue- Hobbs, Jeffrey Argue and Trevor Argue, Maraika and Darragh De Groot (all of Brockville); and Rhianna Van Allen of Maple Ridge, B.C., Great-Grandmother to Emma Hobbs, Mara and George Thomson, Cousin to Faye Grant-Rodriques and the Ottaway family of Barrie, Ontario. Garry was predeceased by her
parents Helen Burditt (nee Turner) and George Stanley Burditt, her
brother George, and her aunt Doris Grant (nee Turner). Garry leaves
behind dear friends Margaret MacLean, Bette Woofter (nee Allen) Born in Toronto September 23, 1924 Garry was known for her sense of humour, her love of music and dance. She grew up in Barrie, Ontario and attended Central Collegiate. She later enlisted and served in WW2 as a wireless operator in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1944. Garry married Douglas Van Allen in 1948. Garry and Doug were stationed in Camp Petawawa, London, Charlottetown, Ottawa and Camp Borden. In 1966 she moved to Brockville when Douglas became Deputy Sheriff. In 1969 Garry returned to Barrie where she lived with her mother Helen until 1979. She later resided in Winchester, Ontario (1979 to 1990), Legion Village Apartments in Brockville, Ontario (1990 to 2005). She moved to Calgary with her daughter Karen in 2006 where she resided until her death. In memoriam donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation are appreciated.
